Commission to Review Boundaries of Districts. By February 1, 2011, the County Council will appoint a Commission on Redistricting to review the boundaries of Council districts. This very important Commission will be composed of eight members (chosen from individuals recommended by the two political parties), and the Council will appoint one additional member. 

Eight Names are Nominated  for Four Slots. Although four Democratic members are chosen by the County Council, the MCDCC must submit a list of eight recommended individuals.

(Consequently, the Democratic Central Committee recommends eight individuals, and four of the eight will be selected to serve.)  The Central Committee will select names according to the following formula: five in-district and three at-large representatives. 

The Process. Five individuals will be chosen from each of the five council districts and, after balloting for the five council districts has been completed, all of those candidates who were not successful will be considered for the three at-large seats.

The deadline to apply is Thursday, November 4 at 12:00 noon. Applicants will be interviewed by the MCDCC’s County Redistricting Review Committee.  Interviews will take place in the order that applications are received. The Central Committee will notify applicants of their interview date and times. The Chair of the MCDCC County Redistricting Review Committee is Alan Banov (LegalRun@com).
